About Aspect Ratio Calculator

About Aspect Ratio Calculator: type a width and a height for the simplified ratio, or a ratio and one side for the other side in pixels. Video, photos, print and screens are typical jobs.

Who writes the site

Pages are signed by the Aspect Ratio Calculator Team. That byline is the publisher of this site. This about Aspect Ratio Calculator page is the checklist: who writes, how a number is tested, and which document a pixel size came from. We do not invent a named reviewer, a headshot, or a star rating. The methodology page is where the rounding and source rules are written down.

About Aspect Ratio Calculator - Aspect Ratio Calculator

Aspect Ratio Calculator is not a video editor, a print lab, or a scheduler for social posts. The calculation is the ratio and the pixel size. Two sides you already know are simplified, including a pair that is not on the preset list. A ratio and one side return the other side in pixels. Crop and pad are there when the frame itself has to change.

What you can calculate

On the homepage that is the whole form. Two pixel sides return a simplified ratio: 1920 and 1080 become 16:9. A ratio and one side return the other side: a 16:9 width of 1920 is 1080 tall. Other pages start from a different input: megapixels and percent scale, inches and DPI for a print, video bitrate and file size, pixel aspect ratio, a decimal such as 1.85, a screen diagonal, or PPI.

Ratio articles, resolution pages and platform tables sit beside those tools. A platform row is published only when we can point at an official help page or ads specification and record the date we last read it. A missing placement means we left it out, rather than copying a size from an unsourced cheat sheet.

How a printed number is checked

Worked examples use the same rules as the live calculator. 1920 and 1080 share a greatest common divisor of 120, so the ratio is 16:9. Padding that frame to 4:3 produces a 1920×1440 canvas. Cropping it to 9:16 produces 607×1080. If an article and the tool ever disagreed, we would treat that as a mistake to correct, not as two acceptable answers.

The downloadable files ratios.json, ratios.csv and resolutions.json are the same rows as the charts. The terms of use state the license. The methodology page states the resize, crop and pad rules.

Every calculator on the site is free in the browser. If advertising is added later, it will be labelled as an advertisement and described in the privacy policy. Ads will not change the arithmetic, and they will not put a calculator behind a payment.

Frequently asked questions

Who writes the articles?

The Aspect Ratio Calculator Team. Formula examples are checked against the same calculator the page runs. A pixel size from a standard or a help page is listed under Sources with the URL we read.

Is there a named expert reviewer?

No. ITU, DCI, VESA and the official platform help pages are the authority for a cited size. We do not add an expert-reviewed line or a star rating.

Can I reuse the datasets?

Yes, under the CC BY 4.0 stand-in on the terms page, with attribution, until the site owner confirms another license.
